Preparing for your survey
- The client must arrange the haul out for out of water inspection with the marina and the boat owner.
- The keys to the engine, cabin and lockers must be onboard.
- The vessel should be clean.
- All vessels state and Coast Guard documentation should be on board along with all previous surveys, safety plans, receipts for major work, and maintenance records.
- The boat should be accessible so the cabin, lockers, and drawers should be as empty as to permit access.
- The batteries should be fully charged and the boat should be plugged into shore power.
- Freshwater tanks should have enough water to be able to operate and test the freshwater system.
- There must be adequate fuel in the tanks to run the engine and generator.
- There must be adequate fuel in the tanks to run the engine and generator.
- The oil and coolant should be topped off.
- Engine should NOT be started prior to the survey. It is necessary to see how the engine performs from a cold state.
- All required safety equipment must be present for sea trial.
- If a sea trail is performed, an authorized operator or captain must be organized by the client.
- Items not included in the sale should be removed from the vessel.
- Electronics should be mounted and connected.
